Data Methodology
How DimenDex handles dimensional reference data and accuracy.
How records are handled
DimenDex stores principal dimensions for standardized bearing designations: bore diameter (d), outside diameter (D), and width (B). Metric values are the primary reference values. Inch values shown on part pages are mathematical conversions from millimeters and are rounded to four decimal places.
Verification approach
Starter records have their principal dimensions cross-checked against an external technical source table before publication, then checked for internal consistency across the finder, series tables and individual pages. Source and verification metadata are retained with the dataset. We avoid generating a dimension when a record is not present in the verified dataset.
What the data does not imply
Matching principal dimensions do not guarantee interchangeability. Seals, shields, internal clearance, tolerances, materials, load ratings and manufacturer-specific suffixes may differ.
Important: For safety-critical, high-speed, high-load or precision applications, confirm the complete designation and current technical specification with the manufacturer or an authorized technical source before selection.
